HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE HENHOUSE!!! MUDHENS FINISH YEAR SHORT OF GOALS A tough season for the Hens. The BVB MudHens 2011 season was not what the team expected when they hit the field in early May. Constant rain-outs and roster attendance issues plagued the first part of the season. The inconsistent nature of the slow start showed as they faced three losses after their first game win against the Hobos. By the 8th game, the MudHens were a dismal 3-5 record. The subsequent games after that picked up the pace with an 11 game winning streak then a loss, tie and win rounded out the regular season. The final win of the 2011 season marked the 60th franchise win for the BVB MudHens, since established in 2007. The mid-season win streak brought the Hens a 3rd place finish and a solid seed for the play-offs. The rush was short lived unfortunately as the MudHens struggled to keep pace with the competing BVB Red Sox in the quarter-final series. The Hens lost all chances of moving forward in game 4; a finish not familiar to our organization. Despite the early season finish, the BVB MudHens continued to find opportunities to hit the field. The squad entered fall tournaments and sandlot games to keep the players active and push off the approaching winter as long as possible. The BVB MudHens clubhouse will now begin working on building the 2012 season roster and show BVB that they are ready to compete again for the title. Solidifying existing roster as well as growing with some key player roles will be the combined gameplan for success. Also, many thanks to sponsors for 2011. Without your contributions, the BVB MudHens could not provide the level of presence on the field as we did. To some of our new sponsors this season such as MICHAEL BRIERLEY Ltd. REALTOR BROKERAGE, ST.CATHARINES CONCRETE FORMING and TUNDRA TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS, we hope you valued the relationship we started with you. And to all our existing sponsors such as BURLINGTON KROWN RUSTPROOFING, MMMedical Transcripts and STONWALLS many thanks to your continued presence. Events such as the Burlington KROWN BBQ at the Park were very successful activities to showcase what our supporters mean to the team. See you in the spring…very soon we hope… |
