HENS GET BACK TO BASICS The MudHens hosted the Welland Legends at Nelson Park Tuesday night for the late slot. Getting prepared for game time, the squad was still trying to figure out what was contributing to the lacklustre playing over the first three regular season games but it was quickly discovered. The Hens hit the field with a “sandlot” boyish attitude to go play the game they are so infatuated with. The team played loose, kept attitudes positive and never stopped the squad banter on the field or in the dugout. The Legends led the first half of the 1st inning with a run but, the Hens matched point in the bottom. From there, the MudHens moved forward by hitting and moving men around to score. The score by the bottom of the 6th was 8-1 for the Hens, keeping Welland off the board after their initial inning. Welland was not ready to go home though for they took advantage of a tired Rob Fisher on the mound in the 7th inning with some walks and singles. The score moved up to 8-5 with the Hens closing the game with a double play with two men on and a solid hit by Welland. The Hens now get back to regular season with a game on Friday night at Nelson against the Brewers. Come down and cheer from the Hen House! |

| Team Roster Activities: | BVB Squad plans a road trip to see Toledo play… |
| The 2009 MudHens management team is actively working to solidify their roster prospects. With a large core group of players from the 2008 season, the remaining spots are being filled with some prospects that the clubhouse has had an eye over the last year. The MudHens will have plenty of strength to grow on what sprouted from the ground in 2007 and prove their competitiveness in the 2008 season. Keep an eye on the MudHens Roster page for squad updates. Got to love them HENS! |
The BVB Hens are coordinating a road trip to see the Toledo Mud Hens when they play in Buffalo July 16-19th against the Bison. With a short drive across the border, the team looks to have some team fun and see some serious baseball played by the team they love to support. With a heavy schedule that weekend, the Saturday, July 18th looks to be the day for a drive to Dunn Tire stadium. |
